Aerosmith have been the focus of so many books, interviews and documentaries over the years that it's easy to assume there's nothing left to learn about the band — but as this installment of You Think You Know Classic Rock? proves, there are always a few stories that even hardcore fans may not be aware of.

For example, although it's impossible to think of dynamic frontman Steven Tyler as anything but a singer, he actually didn't start out in front of the microphone; in fact, if things had gone the way he originally planned, he probably never would have made his way to the front of the stage at all.

Speaking of Tyler, although we're all well aware that his daughter Liv was the first famous Aerosmith offspring, there are other well-known offshoots from the band's family tree — including a certain doe-eyed starlet who went Hollywood after being born to the group's former guitarist Rick Dufay. And famous daughters aren't Aerosmith's only Hollywood connection, either; in fact, one of the band's biggest hits got its name from a line in a Mel Brooks comedy classic.

Aerosmith fans are well aware of the substance abuse issues that plagued the band members during the '70s and early '80s, but those problems were well known to members of the band's peer group before the rest of us really understood how bad they were — and in this video, we reveal which legendarily drug-friendly guitarist was so in awe of Aerosmith's appetites that he declared them "the druggiest band around."

For all those stories and more — including the secret message that's hidden in the classic Aerosmith song "Sweet Emotion" — just press play on the video above. You think you know Aerosmith? It's time to find out.
