It’s already started to be honest. During a 31-day span a lot of big buckets have been and will be scored in South Dakota’s largest city.

First the college element bears a fair amount of explanation. The freshly completed Northern Sun Conference men’s and women’s tournament saw Augustana and Northern State’s respective squads advance to NCAA regional competition.

Speaking of the Regionals, Augustana may end up hosting an 8-team winner take all scrum by virtue of winning the conference tournament. Which most likely will begin on March 13 or 14 at the Sanford Pentagon.

Later in the month, the NCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Championship will take place at the Pentagon starting March 24.

The Summit League tournament will move into its new digs with the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center beginning March 7. Two champions will eventually move on the NCAA Division 1 tournaments.

High School hoops will be on the plate in a couple of ways this month. District and Regional competition will take place within the city limits for both boys and girls. The capper will be the AA Boys State Basketball tournament March 19-21.

Professional ball is also woven into the schedule with five home games at the Sanford Pentagon. The Sioux Falls Skyforce is hot on the trail of a playoff slot and each game will be valuable in their own way.

Got basketball? Sioux Falls says yes resoundingly.
