Twinkies Are Back, But Smaller

A box of Twinkies weighed 15 ounces through much of 2012 and prior years, until they were pulled off the shelves in a bankruptcy hearing late last year. But they've returned to stores this week a little lighter than we remember! A box now weighs 13.58 ounces!

Now technically, we've been told that when the previous company went bankrupt in November, the boxes weighed 13.5 ounces, so the 'new' Twinkies are actually larger. Maybe I didn't run out and stock up on the moist cake treats before they disappeared, but I still remember them MUCH larger than they are now. And of course the price is the same, so we're paying more for less.

At least they changed the recipe slightly to give them a longer shelf life as well. That creme filled goodness now lasts 45 days.

Excuse me while I indulge in a childhood memory. Speaking of which, anyone seen a Banana Flip lately??
