Travel Blogger Visits Sioux Falls for First Time, Picks Top 12 Things to Do
If you've been around Sioux Falls for what seems like forever, you might not think of the city as being a prime destination for tourists. But sometimes when you hear about what we have to offer through the eyes of someone visiting for the first time, you begin to realize how much of what goes on around here we sometimes take for granted.
Recently the author of the travel blog Around the World with Justin, Justin Walter, visited South Dakota's largest city at the invitation of the website TravelMindset.com. Justin made the trip as a guest of the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau.
He wrote about his experience this month in the blog '12 Reasons to Travel To (and Not Through) Sioux Falls, South Dakota'. His overall takeaway from the visit:
Sioux Falls is located in southeast South Dakota putting it on the map in the Midwest, but don’t let its small town charm fool you! It’s actually the largest city in South Dakota and home to nearly 30% of the state’s population. I visited Sioux Falls to explore outdoor adventure, its vibrant arts and music scene, and its bustling restaurant and brewery industry. During my visit a local told me that Sioux Falls used to be a place people traveled through, but now it’s a place people travel to.
In his blog, Justin highlighted a dozen of the top things to do, see, and experience in Sioux Falls:
Arts & Music
- Sculpture Walk
- Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center
- Deep Sea Imaginarium at Washington Pavilion
- Old Courthouse Museum
- Total Drag Record Store
- Orpheum Theater
Food and Drinks
- Brewery Tour - Hydra, Fernson, Monks, Prairie Berry, and WoodGrain
- Restaurants - Bob’s Cafe, Backyard Grill, Jacky’s (a Guatemalan restaurant which he mistakenly classifies as Mexican), Oshima, PAve
- First Fridays at Parker’s Bistro
