Time to lace up the sneakers and grab some shorts!

Organized by the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, the Sioux Falls Marathon began in 2012 and has grown in popularity. Each year the race route features downtown Sioux Falls, iconic Falls Park, and travels one of the best bike trail systems in the country.

The annual Sioux Falls Marathon returns to the streets and recreation trail this Sunday, August 27, 2023, with a full marathon, half marathon, and 5K. For the safety of those participating, the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, organizers of the Sioux Falls Marathon, have announced the following street closures:

The following streets will be closed temporarily this Sunday, August 27, 2023:

N. Western Ave (Russell St to Burnside St) 6:00 am-1:00 pm
Legion Drive (Western Ave to Hawthorne Ave) 6:00 am-10:15 am
Hawthorne Ave (Burnside St to West Ave) 6:00 am-10:15 am
1st St (Western Ave to West Ave) 6:00 am – 10:30 am
West Ave. Service Road (Hawthorne Ave to Madison St) 6:00 am-10:30 am
Madison St (Lyndale Ave to Menlo Ave) 6:00 am-11:15 am
N. Lake Ave (Along Terrace Park) 6:00 am-11:15 am
Menlo Ave (Brookings St to 4th St) 6:00 am-11:00 am
4th St (Menlo Ave to Duluth Ave) 6:00 am-10:15 am
Duluth Ave (4th St to 9th St) 6:00 am-10:00 am
9th St (Duluth Ave to Phillips Ave) 6:00 am-10:00 am

In coordination with the Sioux Falls Police Department and the City of Sioux Falls, each street listed above will open once the last runner clears.

Additionally, the following streets will be utilized, but not entirely closed. Drivers should proceed with caution and adhere to volunteer direction on these streets:

Birchwood Ave (E. 54th St to Edgewood Rd)
Edgewood Rd (Birchwood Ave to Otonka Trail)
Cliff Ave (Otonka Trail to St. George Dr)
Harlem Ave (Elmwood Park to McClellan St)
McClellan St (Harlem Ave to Hudson Ave)
Hudson Ave (McClellan St to Brookings St)

The start times for each race are as followed:

Full Marathon – 6:30 am

Half Marathon – 7:00 am

5K – 10:15 am
