Nicholas David, the dynamic, vibrant, soulful singer/songwriter from St. Paul, Minnesota who captured America's attention and hearts on his way to a top three finish on TV's "The Voice" in 2012 is coming to Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa Saturday January 18 at 8pm.

I got a chance to talk to David as he gets set to kick off a tour that will take him through Philadelphia, Washington DC, Kansas City and eventually here to our neighborhood and we had to start with how the exposure he received on national TV changed his life:

David always sang with so much passion while on the show, feeling grateful for the opportunity he was given and drinking in every critique from the panel of judges. I asked David where that passion comes from:

I always want to know who the people were that set an artist or performer down the path they've chosen. Who they listened to, or what it was that lit that flame to send them into the music business. I'll admit, David's answer surprised me a little, but after watching him on TV and reading more about him, it shouldn't be surprising in the least.

Like a new generation of musical performers, David really defies a 'label' or genre. So I asked him to describe his music to someone coming to his show without being influenced by his run on TV:

Those of us who watched him on "The Voice" you knew there was so much more to Nicholas David that TV time simply wouldn't allow us to find out. In reading his bio, I asked him about his work with The Smile Network:

Nicholas David is literally one of my favorite performers on any of the TV talent shows I've watched over the years, not only for his voice, but for the man he is. I've talked to other people who have had the opportunity to meet him and interview him and they all come away with the same feeling I did. Nicholas David is truly one of the kindest, nicest people we've talked to. Ever.

Nicholas David will perform at Grand Falls Casino Saturday January 18 at 8pm. Tickets are $15 and $25 and are available at this link.
