The Sioux Empire Fair is Underway. Here’s Everything You Need to Know About the Fair

Summer is starting to wind down.  In just a few weeks, the kids will be back in school. Enjoy some family fun at the 75th Sioux Empire Fair, August 1-10 at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  From the carnival rides to the fair food, live music, exhibits, bingo and more, there’s something for everyone at the Sioux Empire Fair.

Here’s this year’s Grandstand entertainment.  All Grandstand entertainment is free with paid gate admission.

American Scarecrows

Saturday, August 2- 8:00pm

The first single, “Cheshire” off their new album, Yesteryear (June 2014), best embodies the band’s current direction. The song is an unabashedly honest love story about a girl from Northern Minnesota; the piece is a narrative masquerading as a pop song laced with fragile emotion and the buoyancy of young love.

Collective Soul

Saturday, August 2-
Following American Scarecrows

2014 marks the 20th anniversary of Collective Soul. The band released Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid in 1994 as their first studio album. The long awaited 9th studio albumSee What You Started By Continuing fully embodies the journey that Collective Soul has taken musically and personally throughout the last two decades.

Hairball

Sunday, August 3- 8:00pm

Hairball is the world’s ultimate “80′s Rock” impersonation act, recreating the good-time party atmosphere of the decadent decade with unmatched authenticity. They copy the personas of the era’s legendary front men while rapidly changing elaborate costumes, then complete their transformations with dead-on visual and vocal performances.

American Young

Monday, August 4- 8:00pm

From the easy, almost hushed jangly plea of “Love Is War,” to the driving, fiddle-laden anger of “Wasn’t Gonna Drink Tonight,” American Young isn’t content with their audience being passive listeners to their music. They want them to feel it in their soul.

Josh Turner

Monday, August 4-
Following American Young

Josh Turner is an American country music singer and actor who signed to MCA Nashville Records in 2003. His latest single is “Time Is Love” off his new album, ‘Punching Bag’. In 2003, “Long Black Train”, his title track, was his breakthrough single release.

Buckcherry

Tuesday, August 5- 8:00 pm

Buckcherry is an American rock band from Anaheim, California formed in 1995. The band released two albums,Buckcherry (1999) and Time Bomb (2001), before dissolving in the summer of 2002. In 2005, lead vocalist Josh Todd and lead guitarist Keith Nelson reformed Buckcherry and released a new album on April 16, 2006. Buckcherry’s hits include Billboard Hot 100 top ten hit, “Sorry” and “All Night Long”.

The Beach Boys

Wednesday, August 6 – 8:00pm

The Beach Boys hit singles include “Surfin’ USA”, “Fun, Fun, Fun”, “California Girls”, “I Get Around”, and “Good Vibrations”. They are led by Mike Love (an original member) and Bruce Johnston, who along with Christian Love, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band.

Parmalee

Thursday, August 7- 8:00pm

Country fans voted Parmalee’s debut single, “Musta Had A Good Time,” #1 for 4 consecutive weeks on SiriusXM’s The Highway “Hot 30 LIVE” countdown. PARMALEE is recognized for their #1 smash hit single “Carolina”.

Randy Houser

Thursday, August 7 -
Following Parmalee

Randy Houser’s newest single, “Goodnight Kiss”, joins his #1 smash hit singles “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” and “How Country Feels”.

Scotty McCreery

Friday, August 8- 8:00pm

Five months after winning Season 10 of “American Idol,” McCreery released his debut album,Clear As Day, which became the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011.
