Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott to Produce Album by Thin Lizzy Members

Def Leppard's Joe Elliott will produce the sophomore record by Black Star Riders, a band featuring former members of Thin Lizzy. Elliott previously worked on the 2011 reissue of Thin Lizzy's 1976 classic 'Jailbreak' album. The Def Leppard singer also produced the first two solo albums by Black Star Riders' Ricky Warwick, who joined Thin Lizzy as vocalist in 2010.

28 Years Ago: Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott Dies

Thin Lizzy's hard-living frontman and bassist Phil Lynott escaped the grips of crushing childhood poverty in Dublin, but ultimately couldn't out run his own demons. He died at 36 from heart failure and pneumonia on Jan. 4, 1986, having been admitted to Salibury Hospital in Wiltshire, England on Christmas Day after "a drink and drug binge" at his home.

Black Star Riders, Comprised of Thin Lizzy Members, To Release Debut Album

We are just a little over a month away from the debut release from the Black Star Riders. If the name doesn't immediately ring some bells, the group has some real weight in its ranks. The band is comprised of Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson and Marco Mendoza, all of whom are also members of Thin Lizzy. The band is rounded out by Jimmy DeGrasso on drums.

Thin Lizzy Alumni Project, Black Star Riders CD

As reported by Ultimate Classic Rock this past December, Thin Lizzy member Scott Gorham announced the formation of a new group, Black Star Riders. Now, the group has confirmed details of their debut full-length effort, scheduled to be released in late May. 'All Hell Breaks Loose' is slated for release in the United States on May 28 via Nuclear Blast.
