South Dakota Wild Horse Sanctuary Featured in Film at Icon Lounge
Cinema Falls is hosting the Midwest Premiere of RUNNING WILD: THE LIFE OF DAYTON O. HYDE this Sunday, April 21st at ICON Event Hall + Lounge, on Main Avenue, just north of Sixth Street, in Sioux Falls.
The film is billed as “the inspiring journey of a remarkable cowboy who triumphs in his quest to protect wild horses and the American West.”
The founder and protector will be attending the screening. Dayton O. Hyde, who at 88-years old will travel across South Dakota and be joined by the film¹s director, Suzanne Mitchell of NYC.
Mr. Hyde will be in the faculty lounge on Viewpoint University Friday Afternoon on 1140 KSOO.
This film won the Audience Award at the Sarasota Film Festival. It is also an official selection at Slamdance, Sedona, CineQuest, and Palm Beach International film festivals. The film is produced by two-time Academy Award documentary winner, Barbara Kopple.
As of 2013, over 500 wild horses roam freely on the 12,000 acres that Dayton Hyde has worked to preserve and protect. A published author and poet and ardent nature lover, Dayton has won both literary and conservation awards. He has made over 20 television appearances from Dick Cavett to Jeff Corwin.
“We¹re so pleased that after traveling to Utah, Arizona, California, and Florida this film and its founder are coming home to South Dakota,” said Cinema Falls founder, Julie Anderson Friesen. “We’re the first stop as this film moves on to the Black Hills Film Festival in early May. The sights and sounds of the lush, wild South Dakota landscape couldn’t arrive at a better time for our city.”
RUNNING WILD: THE LIFE OF DAYTON O. HYDE is currently scheduled for two screenings on Sunday, April 21st. The first is a VIP Matinee Fundraiser at ICON with doors opening at 2PM and film starting at 2:30PM. The $75 ticket includes a donation to the sanctuary, film admission, a movie poster signed by Dayton Hyde, post-film Q&A with both founder and filmmaker, and a gourmet dessert reception including “meet & greet.”
The doors will re-open at 5:30pm with live music from respected singer, songwriter Dan Mahar with the film beginning promptly at 6:30pm. A post-film Q&A will follow. Tickets are $11.50.
