Cory Maurer grew up in Sioux Falls and always wanted to be a musician in a band, but his friends were just never into it. After the 28-year old wrote his ode to the failed (and much ridiculed) Don't Jerk & Drive South Dakota safety campaign, his friends may change their 'tune'.

The 28-year old Maurer said he saw the Don't Jerk & Drive ads and the following attention when he decided to pick up his guitar and start writing last weekend. "I shared a copy of the song with my uncle John Maurer, and after he listened to it 6 times he said to get my video camera and he helped me film the video! I have always enjoyed having a good laugh and after they pulled the video I wanted to keep the message going. I wrote the song Saturday night just messing around and now here we are!"

Maurer says it's the first local themed video he's done but hopes to do more in the future. And if you're in a band and looking for someone who knows how to play piano and guitar and has a good sense of humor, you may want to give Cory a call!
