As we told you through our Facebook page last night, drivers in Sioux Falls must stop texting while driving or face a hefty fine.

The ban the Sioux Falls City Council approved Tuesday night is a primary offense, which means police can pull you over for texting and driving.  It's a ticket that would cost $200, even for a first offense.

The council did make a few changes to the proposed ordinance before unanimously approving it.  They tried to clear up what could not be used in the car. For example GPS and navigation systems have been excluded from the ordinance and the wording now more specifically bans handheld devices.

That includes PDAs such as Blackberry devices, smart phones, cell phones, MP3 players, iPods, tablets and more.

We'd love to hear your reaction. Leave a comment below and we may use it on the air!
