An interesting discussion ensued on KSOO’s Viewpoint University. Rick Knobe ascertains the notion that a divide exists in the state of South Dakota that could be remedied.

Folks in Colorado are feeling a little punchy in the rural areas and actually floated a measure to consider a secession to generate a North Colorado. However the possibility of an East Dakota is nowhere near a reality.

The Missouri River is a natural geographic boundary that would be a nice clean break. The economic and cultural divide is just a little farther east as in the James River.

The Knobe plan would include the major population centers Aberdeen, Huron, and Mitchell with a return of capital responsibilities to Yankton for East Dakota.
