Rod Stewart's record-breaking sales on home-shopping channel HSN has helped propel his Merry Christmas Baby album to a number-three debut on the Billboard 200, with with nearly 90,000 copies sold, according to the latest SoundScan figures.

Stewart's effort was surpassed only by the second week sales of Taylor Swift's Red and the debut of rapper Meek Mill's Dreams and Nightmares. With his PBS TV special still to come, Merry Christmas Baby seems poised to become one of this holiday season's biggest sellers.
