Former UFO bassist Pete Way is celebrating his recent triumph over prostate cancer by inviting a few famous friends to guest on his next solo album, due in early 2015.

Speaking with Classic Rock Magazine, Way teased a few details regarding the sessions for the new record, 'Walking on the Edge,' which is being produced by Guns N' Roses vet Mike Clink. "On this new album, Slash and Nikki Sixx play," enthused Way, adding that recording is taking place at a studio owned by 'Naughty Naughty' singer John Parr. "Working with these guys is amazing. I mean, how many Grammy awards can you get in one room?"

Promising that the record finds him working in a straight-ahead, "in-your-face rock 'n' roll" vein, Way explained that the songs were written before his cancer scare, and reflect the dangerous lifestyle he's since given up. "The lyrics are really about my drug abuse, about which I'm very ashamed. Money and the needle is a very bad combination," he sighed. "I'm not proud of it, but maybe it will give somebody else the opportunity to just say no. At least then it will have achieved something."

Way hasn't finished work on 'Walking on the Edge' yet, and is currently getting ready to return to the studio to put the finishing touches on the tracks. "I'm excited about going back, but I have to be very careful not to sing better than I did on the earlier takes," he laughed. "Mike will make me do the whole bloody lot again!"
