We've been talking about it for a year and it's finally here! The grand opening of the Brennan Rock & Roll academy in Sioux Falls, SD for the Boys & Girls Club!

Tuesday (March 26) kicked off a week of festivities that will include a free open house to the public Friday (March 29) with area bands including ZZ3, Ramrod Hamster and Rock N' Roll Damnation, so EVERYONE can get a glimpse of this wonderful facility and all it will offer the kids in this community for years to come.

Night Ranger came in to christen the academy and thrilled a packed house with a 'storyteller' type setting for a packed house of 300 people, performing stripped down versions of some of their biggest hits and a few surprises as well.

I got a chance to talk to Jack Blades and Brad Gillis before the show and ask them how they got involved and why it was important to them to be here.

It was a great way to kick off what is going to be a fun week and will make a huge impact on the community. If you're wondering what it's going to cost to have your child or grandchild get music lessons at the academy, you'll be shocked when you find out that it's free with the cost of a yearly membership in the Boys & Girls Club: just $25! As founder Chuck Brennan told me when I toured the facility with him a couple of weeks ago 'When kids leave here they're going to know who Jimi Hendrix is and they'll know how to play AC/DC's Back in Black. Night Ranger didn't do that one, but they DID go into a chorus ofHighway to Hell!

All the grand opening special events are sold out, including Louie Anderson and George Lopez Wednesday; Alice Cooper's All-Star band on Thursday including Robby Krieger of the Doors, and Eric Singer & Tommy Thayer of KISS; and Saturday night with Vince Neil of Motley Crue and Stephen Pearcy of Ratt joining Hairball..

I encourage everyone, especially those of you with kids, to try to stop by on Friday to check out the academy. The guys from Night Ranger, who make their home in the San Francisco area, told me that this is a better practice facility than is available to them back home...and it's all for the kids in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Unbelievable.
