According to WalletHub there are three things that can affect your stress level: location, location and location. And that's especially true when money is concerned.

The popular website is out with its annual list of the nation's 150 most financially stressed cities AND least stressed cities.

Most stressed cities:

  1. Newark, New Jersey
  2. Detroit, Michigan
  3. Cleveland, Ohio
  4. Jackson, Mississippi
  5. Miami, Florida

What makes these cities so stressful is that all five have high unemployment rates and the job market in those areas is rated poor to very poor.

If you're looking to lower your stress level you should look at moving South - or to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We came in at #5.

Least stressed cities:

  1. Fremont, California
  2. Plano, Texas
  3. Overland Park, Kansas
  4. Scottsdale, Arizona
  5. Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Our work stress ranking came in at #82 (on all of these the higher the number the better), our financial stress ranking at #141, our family stress ranking at #148, and our health and safety stress ranking at #136 - for a total score of 32.46.

By comparison Newark, New Jersey - which was found to be the most stressful city in the country - came in with a total score of 60.28.

Here's how some of the other cities in our region fared (again, the higher the number the better):

  • Kansas City, Missouri - 48
  • Denver, Colorado - 61
  • St. Paul, Minnesota - 109
  • Des Moines, Iowa - 113
  • Omaha, Nebraska - 120
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota 121
  • Lincoln, Nebraska - 135
