Madsen Wins $5000 At Huset’s

Sunday marked the first of two nights of racing at Huset's Speedway for the Labor Day weekend. And night one was full of action.

22 outlaw sprints were on hand to compete for the $5000 win money. Plus it was the final qualifying race to get into the $10,000 to win race coming up next Sunday September 8th.

And the street stocks held their biggest race of the season on Sunday also. An explanation of this very unique race was outlined in our previous story. A 30 lap event for the largest pay out purse that they will race for all year added to the excitement.

Ian Madsen from Australia, who makes his home currently in Knoxville, Iowa, won the outlaw sprint feature race. It was his second Huset's victory of the season. He earlier had won another special event in the All Star Circuit of Champions at Huset's. He now has claimed two big pay checks this season at the track.

Another driver originally from Australia, Lynton Jeffrey, came in second. The guys from the land down under made a fine showing at Huset's on Sunday.

Dusty Zomer finished in third, Jody Rosenboom fourth and Terry McCarl fifth. McCarl set the quick time in qualifying for the third consecutive week.

Robby Wolfgang won the 360 sprints after taking over the lead from John Lambertz on lap 10. Wolfgang with a season best three wins in the class at the track.

Brandon Buysse is the top winner of the season in the micro sprints after now capturing his third victory.

In the big street stock showdown it was Craig Hanisch winning the $1250 with a combination of racing hard and also getting some luck in the draw for the line up. Gary Brown, Jr. was leading the race but was sent to the back with 10 laps to go after an unlucky draw. Brown charged all the way back to third.

In the b mods Dustin Kruse raced to a second win in a row and a season best fifth in the class. And in the hobby stocks Chad Lonneman used the high side of the race track to get to the front for a second win of the season.
