It’s hard to deny that Journey singer Arnel Pineda’s rise to success is a unique and moving story. The frontman was discovered by Journey guitarist Neal Schon, who caught a video of Pineda performing with his former cover band Zoo on YouTube, and the rest is as they say, history.

Now, in a new documentary titled ‘Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey,’ Pineda’s personal tale is chronicled in the inspirational flick. Written and directed by Ramona S. Diaz, the movie focuses on the struggles and pressures Pineda, who lived in the Phillipines when discovered, faced when joining Journey and trying to find his place within an already established successful band.

In a newly released trailer for the film, seen below, Schon talks about the moment that he found the YouTube video of Pineda performing the Journey ballad ‘Faithfully.' Schon, on the verge of giving up on the idea of ever finding the right singer, called Pineda “too good to be true."

In another clip, keyboardist Jonathan Cain asks the question, "How do you take someone from a Third World country and throwing them into a circus?"

Pineda, still very humble even after proving himself as a force to be reckoned with describes his personal journey with Journey as “living a fairy tale…like a Cinderella story."

‘Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey’ made its debut last year at several film festivals and is scheduled to open in select theaters around the U.S. on Friday (March 8). Visit the movie's official website  for a list of all the showings in your area.
