If you don't feel like hiding the Easter eggs under the evergreen in the backyard again this year, why not try something different and take the kids to the state capitol.  The Governor and First Lady have invited families to have some fun at the 61st Annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt on the Governor’s residence lawn at one o'clock (central time) on Easter Sunday.

Chairman of the Elks Easter Egg Hunt, Steve Wegmen, says that kids up to age 10 are invited to hunt for the colorful Easter eggs on the Governor's lawn in what is often called the oldest and largest family event in the state of South Dakota.  Past estimates show as many as 1,500 kids look for the colorful eggs each year.

Governor Dennis Daugaard says he is happy to continue with this tradition,

This will be the fourth year that Linda and I have participated in the mansion Easter Egg Hunt. We’re happy to have the opportunity to continue the tradition.

Before the Easter Egg hunt begins, children's entertainer Phil Baker will be performing on the lawn at 12:15 p.m.

The 61st Annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Pierre Elks.
