The South Dakota Highway Patrol has announced May’s sobriety checkpoints. The Highway Patrol conducts the checkpoints as a way to discourage motorists from drinking and then driving.

There will be checkpoints in 16 counties in South Dakota throughout the month. The counties are: Brown, Bennett, Brookings, Butte, Charles Mix, Codington, Day, Hughes, Jackson, Jerauld, Lawrence, Minnehaha, Roberts, Tripp, Union and Yankton.
