So what is your favorite outdoor winter activity? Downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding or maybe something on the ice. Well Sioux Falls has all of that and more.

And with the fresh snow and warmer temperatures Great Bear Ski Valley had a huge turnout this weekend.

According to Great Bear general manager Dan Grider a total of 2,256 skiers, snowboarders and tubers took to the slopes on Saturday, breaking the park’s previous daily attendance record by over 500 visitors.

“The surprise snowfall combined with mild temperatures and a holiday weekend made for the perfect storm at Great Bear,” said Grider.

Look for more snow this week as the next winter system moves through. The KSFY Severe Weather Center is predicting 2-3 inches of snow tonight then a chance this Thursday.

An evening of lazer tubing, a late night cosmic event, contributed to the record day at Great Bear. Visitors still have a chance to experience lazer tubing on Feb. 24, the last session of the season.

With a solid base of snow, Great Bear is optimistic about finishing the 2017-2018 season strong.
