The Foo Fighters rocked out to Rush's 'Tom Sawyer' during their performance at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium over the weekend. Recorded in the round, the muscular cover is part of a two-and-a-half hour concert that included other notable classic rock favorites too. You can watch the video above.

Dave Grohl and company opened with the Foo Fighters' 'Something From Nothing,' and also performed 'Learn to Fly,' 'Breakout' and 'Everlong,' among other notable songs from their own catalog. Later, during the same segment that featured 'Tom Sawyer,' they had fun with Kiss' 'Detroit Rock City,' the Faces' 'Stay With Me' and the Queen and David Bowie collaboration 'Under Pressure.'

A solo feature after 'Cold Day in the Sun' also found various members referencing Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water,' Jane's Addiction's 'Mountain Song' and the Beatles' 'Blackbird.' The Foo Fighters appeared in Rio on Sunday as part of an ongoing tour in support of their new album 'Sonic Highways.'

Referencing older songs like this has become a fun tradition along the way. Earlier this month, they were joined by a gaggle of classic rockers onstage. Last summer, the Foo Fighters spent a half an hour during their Firefly set covering Van Halen (‘Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love’), Alice Cooper (‘School’s Out’) and the Rolling Stones (‘Miss You’). They did an update of ‘Under Pressure’ on that night, as well.

The summer will bring North American tour dates for the Foo Fighters, with concerts scheduled between July and October.
