Foo Fighters have revealed that they will play a special benefit show for Rock The Vote on September 5th in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to Loudwire. The event at the Fillmore will be a rare club gig for the group, with the campaign geared toward making sure young people are registered to vote. Tickets, which went on sale Tuesday (August 21st), sold out in record time and must be picked up the night of the show.A press release stated, "The show will celebrate the power of young voters during the Democratic National Convention and support Rock the Vote's ground-breaking efforts to register more than 1.5 million young people, educate and turn them out to vote this November." Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl told us a while back that while Foo Fighters are not a band with a political message, they're willing to work for causes or candidates they support: "We've never used this band as, like, a political vehicle. But when we go out and do something like support a candidate or support a cause, you know, we do that as human beings first. It wouldn't necessarily be as the Foo Fighters, it would be as four American citizens."
Later in September, Foo Fighters will play the Global Festival in New York City, an event aimed at spreading awareness of and raising money to fight the worldwide epidemic of poverty.
