Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl squashed rumors that the band was breaking up with a post on Twitter, following wild speculation by fans and members of the press -- who should have known better -- over remarks Grohl made at the Reading Festival this past weekend. Speaking to the audience during the Foos' headlining set on Sunday (August 26th), Grohl said, "You guys realize we've got a lot of songs to play. It's the last show of the tour and it's the last show for a long time."

Even though Foo Fighters still have several U.S. dates on their schedule, the remark had fans buzzing about a potential hiatus or even break-up for the group, while online press jumped all over it eagerly.
The increasing speculation over the band's status finally compelled Grohl to respond on the Foos' Twitter page, writing, "Jeesh! Relax.....I was only talking TO England!! ABOUT England...Stop eavesdropping internets!"

Grohl told us a while back that Foo Fighters are careful to not overwork themselves: "We have a way of doing this that we've always done. We try to keep things very simple. We try to do it as much as we can without burning it out, and if it gets to the point where we're, where we don't enjoy it, we just sort of stop. That's what's kept us around this long and we can always say, 'Nope, stop.'"
The band does have several dates coming up, including a "Rock The Vote" event next Tuesday (September 5th) at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, a gig at Atlanta's Music Midtown festival on September 21st and one the next day (September 22nd) at the DeLuna Fest in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Their last scheduled date is on September 29th at the free Global Festival in New York's Central Park.

And just to keep fans' blood pressure down, the tour section of the Foos' website says, "We are coming for you, too. More shows being added here soon."
