It's Week 1 of the NFL season and just as importantly, the start of your fantasy football season!

Week 1 is usually the easiest to figure out who you should have in your starting line up and on your bench...at least it SHOULD be. It's too early to look at defensive statistics and trends, because all we've had is pre-season to go on. The easiest and best way to look at Week 1 is to start your starters. You took the guy with a high pick either because you thought he was going to have a good season or you're a fan, so why not start him?

Of course you should always be aware of injury reports and players who came to camp late. Keeping that in mind will help you bench fantasy stars like Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones Drew, Jason Witten, Rashard Mendenhall, and likely Hakeem Nicks, Ryan Mathews and Mike Wallace.

The other thing to remember is "don't get cute". You drafted Aaron Rodgers #1 overall and took Carson Palmer as your backup. You'd love to have a guy in the late Monday Night game in case you need late points to make up ground and you know it's going to be a shootout with the Chargers. Don't do it. Start Rodgers. Be safe. Don't reach for a guy and out think the room. Week 1 is for playing your studs and hoping for the best: a 1-0 start on your way to claiming the crown from your league!

Good luck and I'd love to see your feedback below and ideas for future blogs, who you're starting (or not starting) and why. Let's have some fun with this!
