Go ahead and try to tell me that music doesn't have healing powers. I won't believe you. Of course music can't heal physical problems. It can't cure cancer. But the magic of music CAN help your mental well-being.

I came across this phone-shot video of a street musician in San Diego this morning. I watched it three times. It's not that I'm a huge 3 Doors Down fan or love the song 'Kryptonite". It's a good song for sure, but something about this musician, who has no arms, strumming away on a guitar with his feet, and singing the lyrics 'will you still call me Superman', just got to me.

Too often in life, especially in this day in age, we find people wanting to play the 'poor me' card. But this talented individual has spent hours, and days, and weeks, and months, learning to play the guitar. He likely did it at the start for the mental healing powers that music possesses and started getting better. Both mentally and as a guitar player. Now instead of sitting at home feeling sorry for himself (and honestly, he would have a right to) he's out in public, playing and singing like crazy for tips. And I bet if you ask him, the joy of playing for people is just as important to him as the tips in his guitar case at the end of the night.

Life is what you make it. Find the joy in it every day. Let the music help you find your way, no matter what you do or what you're facing and dealing with.
