It's a great chance to partake in the enjoyment of an American classic while saving some big bucks at the same time.
National Cheeseburger Day is back and it's Wednesday (September 18).
It's the one day of the year that if you're paying full price for a cheeseburger, you're doing it all wrong:
Just about every major burger joint in the area is running some special deal for the big day:
- Applebee's: $8.99 Classic Burger deal
- Buffalo Wild Wings: BOGO cheeseburgers, plus free wings (Blazin' Rewards Loyalty Program)
- Burger King: Free cheeseburger with a purchase of at least $1 (Royal Perks Loyalty Program)
- Dairy Queen: Free double Original Cheeseburger Signature Stackburger with purchase of $1 or more
- Denny's: 20% off any burger (Denny’s Rewards)
- McDonald's: 50-cent Double Cheeseburgers (mobile app)
- Sonic: $1.99 Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger
- Red Robin: Gourmet cheeseburger with a bottomless side for $10
- Wahlburgers: 50% off all burgers

The history of the cheeseburger dates back nearly 100 years (1926) to Pasadena, California where, legend has it, a 16-year-old fry cook dropped a slice of cheese on a hamburger while working at his father’s sandwich shop.
Since then, the cheeseburger has become a staple of our diet, with more than 50 billion consumed each year, with the average American downing three a week.
