Stephen Stills says that his new blues supergroup the Rides, featuring guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and keyboardist Barry Goldberg, was formed for no other reason than Stills had the itch to keep playing: "We started out trying to do a blues album and I asked (manager) Elliot Roberts to, y'know, start asking around because I'd done a year on the road with CSN and I'd been playing and playing and playing, and I thought my chops were pretty good. And there was a lot of interest from several different people. And then for one reason or another, things didn't work out -- one lost his voice and decided he didn't just want to play guitar, he wanted to sing, too. . . "

Stills is confident that the upcoming rehearsals for the Rides' tour behind their debut set, Can't Get Enough, might even lead to sessions for their second album: "In preparation for the tour, I'm sure we're gonna be writing more songs and do another record. And we'll see if it pops, y'know? It's like, none of us really know what the marketing pukes have made of the music industry these days. We'll just throw it out there and see if people like it."
