Sammy Hagar has dodged a legal headache after a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against him by an Iowa woman and former Playboy Bunny.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe in court documents, claimed that Hagar defamed her in his 2011 memoir, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock. Hagar accused her of extortion, arguing that she held him up for money after saying she'd given birth to his child, who died shortly after birth. In the book, he denied fathering the child, insisting that he'd paid the woman $7000 on the advice of his manager.

Judge Linda Reade ruled that what Hagar wrote was not libelous because he did not use Doe's real name and that she'd failed to prove she suffered any injury.
