Motörhead's new Under Cover compilation includes a previously unreleased take on David Bowie's "Heroes" — and drummer Mikkey Dee says it probably won't be the last time fans have the opportunity to hear tracks from the band's vaults.

Speaking to Billboard about Under Cover, which arrives in stores today, Dee revealed his particular satisfaction with the collection, which he said the band members discussed putting out prior to frontman Lemmy Kilmister's death.

"Many, many moons ago, we were sitting around a table and talking about how it would be fun to make a covers record," he explained. "We have done some great cover songs over all the years. We gathered all the stuff we’d done and said, ‘Let’s just put ’em all on one record and give the fans a cool booklet with some history.’ We’d done a few more things, but this collection was perfect, I thought."

The band's "Heroes" cover was recorded during one of their final sessions before Lemmy's death in 2015, and a full-fledged posthumous studio LP may not be in the cards. But according to Dee, there remain "a lot" of live recordings in the vault, and although there aren't currently any concrete plans to put them out, he expressed confidence that at least a portion of their previously unreleased recordings will see release at some point.

There's also the question of a Lemmy tribute show, which Dee insists will come together when the time is right. Whenever it happens, he assures fans it'll be an all-star affair stacked with artists who can "honor Lem and honor Motörhead and play two-and-a-half hours of f---ing classic Motörhead tracks, s--- that we’ve never even played when we were around." Still noncommittal regarding a date, Dee argued that it's all about timing.

"To do it too soon, then it would be a disaster," he added. "But I am totally open to doing something and when there is the right opportunity to do this, I am all for it and I am going to do my damnedest to put something really, really great together."
