Woman with Gun Shot and Killed by Police Officer in Minnesota Town
North Branch, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday night.

Limited information is available as of Friday morning. Officers first encountered the woman shortly after 9:15 p.m.
The fatal officer-involved shooting happened at the intersection of 3rd Ave. and Elm St. in a residential area of North Branch, which is about 40 miles north of St. Paul.
The woman was reported to be armed with a gun and appeared to be suicidal, a news release issued by the North Branch Police Department says.
Two officers found the woman and one deployed a pepper ball round. The second officer then fired their department-issued firearm, the news release says.

That officer's shot hit the woman. The officers then rendered aid to the woman but she died from her injuries, officials say.
Authorities have not yet identified the officers involved and the woman who was shot and killed. The news release says the officers body-worn cameras captured the incident.
North Branch Police alerted the BCA to the shooting and the state agency is now leading the investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting.
Authorities plan to release more information upon further investigation. The involved officers have been placed on standard critical incident leave.
