We South Dakotans like to gamble, and we love our casinos. I mean we're not Las Vegas-type gamblers, but on occasion, some of us here in the Rushmore State are known for upping the ante, letting it ride, and telling the dealer that daddy needs a new pair of shoes.

There's a new study out from the folks at BetMGM that reveals South Dakota is one of the top states in the nation for casino tourism.

Well duh, have you ever been out to Deadwood on any given day?

According to an article from Dakota News Now, each state in the U.S. was assigned a score out of 100 based on many factors like the number of casinos per 100,000 residents, Uber and Lyft fees, and hotel casino options.

The article also mentioned that TripAdvisor gave South Dakota a very high score in terms of casinos, with a 4.06 rating. That score is tied with four other states, for the third-highest ranking in the nation.

South Dakota ended up with a score of 75.2 out of 100, which puts us just beneath Oklahoma (81.8), Louisiana (81.9), and the jackpot capital of gambling states, Nevada, which had a (87.3) score.

Here in the Rushmore State, we rank third in the number of casinos per 100,000 residents with a 43.9 score.

A couple of South Dakota's neighboring states are also "all in" when it comes to the volume of in-state casinos. North Dakota and Iowa, are both up towards the top of the stack, showing up fifth and sixth overall respectively.

And it appears the residents of Minnesota are far less inclined to say "Hit Me." The Gopher State shows up 15th overall in the number of in-state casinos per 100,000 residents.
