The Annual Day of Giving here in the U.S. this year is Wednesday, (March 29) and one Sioux Empire business has been in the business of giving for thirteen years in a row.

Every March for the past thirteen years, Jersey Mike's Subs across the nation have been participating in what they like to call their Annual Month of Giving.

Throughout the month of March, stores from all over the country have encouraged customers to make donations on the Jersey Mike's App that go towards supporting over 200 local charities throughout the nation.

In addition to that, Jersey Mike's restaurants also offer special deals during the month of March that are offered each week on Twitter and through their Jersey Mike's email club.

As Dakota News Now reports, this spirit of giving will once again culminate this year when the Jersey Mike's locations here in Sioux Falls and across the nation participate in the Annual Day of Giving event on Wednesday, (March 29).

That day, Jersey Mike's locations will not only donate their resources but also every single dollar they make to their local charity partners. Here in Sioux Falls, the money will be given to the Teddy Bear Den and Family Crisis Centers.

Jersey Mike's opened the doors to their first Sioux Falls location at 4908 South Louise Avenue on October 30th of 2019. Roughly a year later, they opened a second Sioux Falls location at 613 South Highline Place in the Dawley Farm Village. Both Sioux Falls Jersey Mike's stores are participating in the franchise's Annual Month of Giving event.

According to Dakota News Now, since Jersey Mike's began their charitable giving across the country back in 2011, the franchise has raised over $67 million for local charities and raised a record-breaking $20 million nationwide in 2022 alone!

The company known for its authentic fresh sliced and fresh grilled subs is hoping for another record-breaking year as they celebrate their thirteenth straight year of giving in 2023.

What better way to help make that goal happen, than to walk into the Jersey Mike's location nearest you in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, March 29th, and order the #13 on the menu?

If you're a frequent Jersey Mike's customer, chances are you probably know #13 is "The Original." A fan favorite according to the Jersey Mike's crew here in Sioux Falls.

We would like to personally thank the entire Jersey Mike's staff in Sioux Falls and across the country for helping to do their part to support local charities and build stronger communities.

Dives Worth a Drive in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota

Almost every small South Dakota town has a watering hole. It’s where the locals go to kick back a few brews and engage in conversation.

Some of these establishments are located in buildings almost as old as the town itself. There might be a fresh coat of paint on the walls or new vinyl on the booth seats, but the ambiance is still reminiscent of a good ol’ dive.

If you think a "dive" is all about the sketchy clientele, the smell of the Devil’s lettuce, and stale Grain Belt, you’d be wrong. Not every dive has a bad reputation.

What makes a dive, a dive?

A dive has character. Neon beer signs and local memorabilia adorn the walls.

You might find a pool table, dart board, and a few video lottery machines.

The bartender knows the regulars by name and they know what you drink.

Some dives don't even serve food except for bags of chips and pickled eggs that sit in a jar of brine on the bar.

Dives aren't fancy. You might see 70's-style wood panels on the walls and wobbly tables leveled with a folded napkin.

Finally, the bathrooms. The bathrooms in dives are in a class by themselves and could be a whole topic on its own.

There are several small-town dives in our area with friendly faces, cheap booze with a burn, and even really good food! We use the term "dive" in the most affectionate way.

Here are some of the best and why you should go there.
