Sign up Is Now Underway for the ‘RAGBRAI’ Biking Event in July

I know this has been and continues to be a very long, agonizing winter, but you do remember what it's like to go bike riding right?

You know, on that two-wheeled contraption that's been sitting in the corner or hanging from the ceiling of your garage these past 6 months.

Trust me, one of these days very soon you'll be able to get reacquainted with your bike, and when you do, you might want to start getting in shape for the big RAGBRAI event coming up this July in Iowa.

The 50th annual RAGBRAI, which stands for (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) is slated for July 23-29.

The 500-mile RAGBRAI event is the largest, longest, and oldest recreational bike ride in the world, and it's also one way to see a large chunk of Iowa on two wheels.

Again this year, over 15,000 riders will be traveling across the state of Iowa on bikes that hopefully have comfy seats.

The 2023 7-day RAGBRAI event will begin on Sunday, (July 23) in Sioux City and will wind up on the other side of the state as you come riding into Davenport on Saturday, (July 29).

In between both of those destinations, riders will be making stops in cities like Storm Lake, Carroll, Ames, Des Moines, Iowa City, and dozens of other Iowa communities along the way.

As Dakota News Now reports, in addition to a whole lot of pedaling, participants can also expect seven non-stop days of music, food, camaraderie, and community. They'll be a series of fun themes for riders to enjoy like “Throwback Jersey Day” and “Guinness Book of World Records.”

Obviously, you need to be a serious rider to be able to pull off a bike trek like this across the heartland. You just don't buy a bike one day, and say, hey, I think I'm going to knock out 500 miles in the next 7 days. At least I'm not capable of doing something like that.

According to Dakota News Now, registration for this year's RAGBRAI ends on Monday, (May 15). You can avoid having to pay a late registration fee if you get signed up by (April 15).
