Check Your Freezer Major Corn Dog Recall
Approximately 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products are being recalled.
The recall is being prompted due to potential wood contamination that has already resulted in consumer injuries.
What's Being Recalled
The recall affects select "State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick" and "Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick" products manufactured by Hillshire Brands, a Tyson Foods subsidiary based in Texas.
The Safety Concern
The problem was discovered after multiple consumer complaints revealed that wooden stick pieces had become embedded in the batter coating.
Five reported cases have involved injuries, prompting the company to issue this voluntary recall "out of an abundance of caution."
What Consumers Should Do
- If you have these products in your freezer, take immediate action:
- Check your products against the FSIS and Tyson online lists using the product name and use-by dates
- Look for establishment numbers "EST-582" or "P-894" on the packaging
- Dispose of recalled items or return them to your place of purchase for a refund
The Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service published the official recall notice on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of checking your freezer to ensure family safety.
Don't take chances with potentially contaminated products—when in doubt, throw it out.
