1 Dead, 3 Injured in Northeast Sioux Falls Crash
An accident in north east Sioux Falls claims a man's life, sends three to the hospital.
According to the Sioux Falls Police Department, just after 5:00 PM Friday night (June 27) a Sioux Falls Traffic Officer on patrol saw an accident. The officer immediately went to help.
Investigation Into the Cause of the Crash Is Ongoing
The accident occurred when a Chevy Silverado driven by a 71-year-old Sioux Falls man entered Madison Street just west of Kiwanis from a private drive.
Meanwhile, a Honda CR-V driven by a 53-year-old Sioux Falls woman, and occupied by a 76-year-old woman in the front passenger seat and a 76-year-old man in the back seat on the passenger side, was eastbound on Madison Street
The front of the Silverado then collided with the front of the CR-V. In spite of the efforts of the officer and first responders, the man sitting in the back of the CR-V died.
Both drivers and the other passenger were treated for various non-life-threatening injuries.
The SFPD says that speed or impairment do not "appear to be factors in the crash, but lack of seatbelt use is under investigation as a possible contributing factor in the death."
The investigation is ongoing.
