What The Ostrich?! Wild Animal Surprises Sioux Falls Drivers
Sioux Falls drivers on Tuesday morning were in for a wild surprise on Louise Avenue.
Somehow an ostrich was on the loose on Louise Avenue and West 26th Street as Sioux Falls residents were on their way to the office. Dozens of drivers captured this surreal moment and sent me a video as proof!
Yep...you're truly not seeing things. An ostrich was really on the road in Sioux Falls! But how did that ostrich get to Sioux Falls? And did it cross the road...okay everyone can collectively groan now.
Sioux Falls resident Beverly Froslie Johnson was casually enjoying her drive and this was the last thing she would ever expect to see on Louise Avenue!
(It) caught me off guard. Poor ostrich. It kept looking at me like, 'Help me, help!'
Apparently, the ostrich was traveling in a trailer through Sioux Falls when it got loose. What's funny is TWO OSTRICHES escaped the trailer. Our partners at Dakota News Now explain the owner was able to capture one of them. Sioux Falls Animal Control came to the rescue and captured the other loose ostrich. Some bystanders helped with this "egg-" citing plan to safely secure the ostrich.
The owner was passing through Sioux Falls and traveling to another state with the beloved animals. More details can be found here.
Thank goodness no animals were harmed in this wild adventure! Great work from the Sioux Falls Animal Control team! Who knows what random creatures will be wandering the Sioux Empire next!
