Although the burros are not native to the Black Hills, they enjoy seeing the visitors at Custer State Park. At one point, burros did haul visitors to the top of Black Elk Peak. The rides are discontinued and the burros now roam the park.

Now visitors of Custer State Park are in for an extra special surprise the next time they see the friendly burros. Park officials at Custer State Park confirmed in a Facebook post that a baby burro was born!

Last weekend, this little bundle of joy was born on Saturday, June 15th. The baby burro and the mother are doing well!

Over the next few days, our dedicated Park staff will be closely monitoring the newborn and his mother to ensure they are both in good health.

This is truly exciting news from Custer State Park! It's not every season baby burros are born, so this is a welcomed surprise. South Dakota residents and Custer State Park visitors are equally thrilled.

That is awesome! We don't get to see many of those.

Welcome to the world little angel !!!

What a gift, to see a brand new burro with those really big ears! So precious!

Our Production Director Karla Brown visited Custer State Park and told me there is another burro who is expecting soon! Here are some great pictures she captured of the burros during her trip.

I think most of us have at least heard of the "Seven Wonders of the Modern World." We might not be able to rattle them off as easily as McDonald's value menu items, but chances are you've heard of at least some of them, right?

There's the Great Wall of ChinaChichén Itzá, a Mayan City on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The ancient city of Petra, in Jordan. Machu Picchu in Peru. Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro. The Colosseum in Rome, and finally, the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.

Every state in the nation is known for having a series of natural wonders and signature landmarks. So, I thought I would come up with my own list of the "Seven Wonders of South Dakota."

The following is what I consider to be the signature landmarks, monuments, and natural wonders that are synonymous with the great state of South Dakota. I tried to give both sides of the state a little love while comprising this list.

You might have a few additions...
