Sioux Falls is a community that is full of generous people with big hearts.

Unfortunately, there are members throughout the City of Sioux Falls who have not been so lucky in life. That's why it's so important to help those in need to warm their spirits. One organization that is looking for some extra help with essential supplies right now is the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.

The mission at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is simple:

TO FULFILL THE GOSPEL CALL TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES BY RECOGNIZING THE GOD-GIVEN DIGNITY OF EACH PERSON AND PROVIDING ESSENTIAL LIFE SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House in Sioux Falls opens its doors as a place of safety, wellness, community, and dignity for anyone experiencing homelessness. The staff at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is there for anyone who needs a fresh start in life.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is asking for the community's help in a big way. They need Kleenex, razors, and deodorant for their residents. They are also running low on other items like coffee, bed sheets, silverware, lotion, chapstick, and bath towels.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House has an entire Amazon wishlist that is updated regularly.

People are encouraged to drop off their donations to the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House at 101 North Indiana Avenue between 8:30 AM to 5 PM. For any questions, people can call 605-809-8424. The wishlist can be found here.

It has been a true honor and privilege of mine to serve as a volunteer and an advocate for the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House. They continue to do amazing work throughout the Sioux Empire. The guests at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House will appreciate your gifts so much!

Gone But Not Forgotten - Iconic Sioux Falls: Whiffer's Sandwiches

The Merriam-Webster definition of iconic is "widely recognized and well-established." That would definitely describe Whiffer's Sandwiches which used to call North Minnesota Avenue home.

The gone but not forgotten sandwich shop was located in an old house at 1133 North Minnesota Avenue. It served sandwiches to Sioux Falls from November 1978 until the summer of 2020.

If you are visiting or new to Sioux Falls and trying to find your way around, chances are you really don't need to pronounce street names correctly. All you have to do is enter your destination into Google Maps and your phone will show you the way.

But what if you are trying to tell someone where your cool friend or family member lives in our fine city? Some of our streets and avenues have tricky spellings that may throw visitors for a loop when trying to sound them out.

No one is going to mess up on the big thoroughfares like Minnesota Avenue, Western Avenue, or Louise Avenue but what about these?
