If you missed your first couple of chances to view an amazing and rare comet in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota, don't worry! There's still time to look up to the sky to find this comet throughout October.

The beautiful Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (also known as C/2023 A3) will be traveling through the Northern Hemisphere for the next several weeks. It is expected to be visible to the naked eye with the best possibility to view it from now until Monday, October 21st.

This is an opportunity for all the major Sioux Empire skywatchers! Our friends at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls have done a great job breaking down how people can witness this remarkable comet.

Keep in mind: There will be a full moon on Thursday, October 17th. This might obstruct the comet's visibility in some areas of the Northern Hemisphere.

For anyone who is wondering what the comet looks like and what to watch for, here's an idea posted by some friends of the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

Whenever the sun is setting on a clear night, just look up to the sky! You never know what you will find in the South Dakota, Iowa, or Minnesota skies. You can always ask National Weather Service in Sioux Falls if you have any questions.

Happy stargazing!
