The month of January has been proclaimed National Mentoring Month. And in recognition, Lutheran Social Services is hosting a Mentoring Meet-and-Greet at the Caribou/Einstein location at 2401 West 41st Street from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday January 26.

LSS staff along with current and former mentors will be on hand to talk about the mentoring program that LSS currently sponsors in many of the surrounding school districts, including the Sioux Falls district - and the first cup of coffee is on them.

All they ask is that you RSVP so they know how many people to plan for. Call 605-444-7803

LSS will also be hosting three 'Try It' events where potential mentors can "give it a try" to see if it's something they may be interested in. At those events, you'll have a chance to meet students who are currently waiting for a mentor and enjoy an activity together.

The events are scheduled for:

  • Tuesday January 24, 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Harrisburg Liberty Elementary
  • Wednesday January 25, 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at Garfield Elementary
  • Friday January 27, 11:15 AM to 12:15 pm at Cleveland Elementary

For more information about being a school mentor contact Lutheran Social Services at 605-221-2403 or visit their website.
