An elementary school just outside of Atlanta, Georgia is coming under fire for taking elementary-age school kids on a field trip - to a gun range.

Georgia's department of Early Care and Learning says it learned of the incident last week after images surfaced of second graders holding firearms.

Tammy Dorsten, an administrator at Holdheide Academy in Woodstock, says the trip was intended to teach kids more about Annie Oakley.

"The field trip, which is definitely part of our Georgia-approved curriculum, was a wonderful educational outing."

Since the pictures surfaced the state has launched a full review of the school and its childcare facility. Meanwhile, the gun range says it'll continue to host school groups.
