General Mills Issuing Voluntary Recall of Four Nature Valley Protein Bars
Tell your co-workers to check their desk drawers. Ladies - check your purses. Moms and dads - check the glove box of your car. If you are always within reach of a Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bar or a Nature Valley Simple Nut Bar, you may want to think twice about eating one as a snack.
General Mills has announced a voluntary recall of four specific flavors of Nature Valley Protein Bars and Simple Nut Bars because the sunflower kernels in the bars may have the potential presence of Listeria.
Although General Mills has not received any direct reports of consumers getting sick, the sunflower kernel supplier, SunOpta, is continuing the national recall.
The voluntary recall by General Mills states that only four of the 40 different Nature Valley products are affected. The four products you should check your pantry and desk drawers for include:
- Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bar - Honey, Peanut & Almond with Pumpkin Seeds - 5 count (Package UPC: 000-16000-47196)
- Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bar-Peanut, Almond & Dark Chocolate - 5 count (Package UPC: 000-16000-45724)
- Nature Valley Simple Nut Bar – Almond, Cashew & Sea Salt - 4 count (Package UPC: 000-16000-46474) and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bar-Almond, Cashew & Sea Salt - 25 count (Package UPC: 000-16000-41301)
- Nature Valley Simple Nut Bar - Roasted Peanut & Honey - 4 count (Package UPC: 000-16000-46475) and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bar - Roasted Peanut & Honey - 16 count (Package UPC: 000-16000-41308)
