After a devastating fire that destroyed the famous Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota back in September 2015, it seemed unlikely that it would ever reopen.

Recently, Michael Ballard formally announced on Monday that he, his wife Angie, and Full Throttle partner, Jesse James Dupree, will indeed open a new Full Throttle Saloon on 600 acres along Highway 79 northeast of Sturgis to the north of Bear Butte, on property that formerly operated as the Broken Spoke.

Ballard said the location of his original saloon will open with a small building in tribute to the landmark's history.

Just a few miles down the road from the original Full Throttle, the new property will open for its inaugural year on Friday, July 29 and will be called The Pappy Hoel Campground, a tribute to the original founder of the Sturgis motorcycle rally. The 600-acre location will now host RVs and an unlimited number of campers.
