Driver Cited After Wrong-Way Crash in Sioux Falls
A motorist was cited for driving the wrong way on Main Avenue in Sioux Falls after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning.
Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says the motorist was northbound, going the wrong way on Main Avenue, just after 10am Monday when the vehicle collided with a truck that was eastbound on 11th Street.
Clemens says the truck, which had a green light, was T-boned by the car in the 11th & Main intersection.
The car spun onto the sidewalk, where it struck a pedestrian and a streetlight before hitting the door of a business at 11th & Main.
Clemens says the pedestrian, a 26-year-old woman from Tea, had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
He says damage to the motorist's 2000 Nissan Altima was listed at $5,500, while damage to the 2006 Dodge pickup was estimated at $2,000 and there was $3000 damage to the building.
The driver, a 65-year-old Sioux falls man, was ticketed for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
