Dolly Parton to Be a Mentor to Semi-Finalists on ‘The Voice’
Dolly Parton is scheduled to mentor the semi-finalists on NBC’s “The Voice” on December 8th, just two days before a made-for-television movie about her life will air, also on NBC. Parton will also perform “Coat of Many Colors” on “The Voice,” which is the song the movie was built around.
The film, starring country singer Jennifer Nettles as her mother and actor Rick Schroeder as her father, is set in the mountains of East Tennessee where Parton was born and raised. Alyvia Alyn Lind portrays the nine-year-old Parton.
The movie concentrates on one incident out of Parton’s life when she was nine years old and her mother lost a baby that the young girl was looking forward to welcoming into the family.
The story told by Parton in “Coat of Many Colors” is told in the movie, following the young girl as she watches her mother sew her a coat from various scraps of fabric that was given to the family.
The two-hour “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” will air on December 10 at 9 p.m. Eastern.
