Something that typically only seems to happen in television and the movies happened Sunday afternoon in Sioux Falls. A car burst into flames after a crash.

KSFY TV is reporting an accident between two vehicles in central Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon, (September 3) resulted in one of the vehicles bursting into flames.

The accident took place around 2:30 PM at the intersection of West 12th Street and South Grange Avenue. According to KSFY TV, the person driving a White Buick LeSabre failed to yield during a left turn and struck a Blue Toyota that was traveling westbound on West 12th Street.

Shortly after the cars collided, the LeSabre became engulfed in flames. KSFY TV says that witnesses to the accident were able to safely remove the driver from the vehicle before emergency rescue crews arrived on scene.

The drivers of both vehicles and their passengers were transported to a local Sioux Falls hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
