Buffalo Roundup, Crazy Horse Hike Just Days Away
The Buffalo Roundup is this Friday, September 30 as over 1,000, half-ton buffalo will stampede across the prairie in Custer State Park.
It will take about four days to work the herd after the roundup. Volunteers will vaccinate and brand the calves, check the cows for pregnancy and then identify 200 buffalo for sale in November.
After the Friday morning Roundup, you can stay for lunch and watch the volunteers work the herd.
More events are scheduled for the weekend, including an Arts Festival, a Chili Cook Off and Crazy Horse Memorial visitors will be permitted to hike to the arm of the mountain carving during an organized Volksmarch on Sunday October 2.
This is the 51st annual roundup.
