The Beatles' Help tops Rolling Stone's list of the "25 Greatest Soundtracks." A Hard Day's Night is number-four and Magical Mystery Tour is 19. Let It Be and Yellow Submarine did not make the list.

The irony, according to Steve Marinucci of the Beatles Examiner, is that "none of these albums were actually soundtracks in the various forms they were released in around the world. The U.S. versions of Help and A Hard Day's Night, containing orchestral music from the films, were, but the British versions, now the ones most generally available on CD, added extra Beatles songs that weren't in the movies. In addition, Magical Mystery Tour was originally released as two extended-play records in the U.K. containing only movie songs, but a 12-inch album in the U.S. with extra non-movie songs."
