Friends of felines can expect a purr-fect weekend at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds. The Big Sioux Cat Fanciers Club is hosting the American Cat Fancier's Association (ACFA) cat show Saturday, September 13th and Sunday, September 14th in the Armory building of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.

90 cats from about 20 different breeds will keep cat enthusiasts busy from 9am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.  Cat shows are usually divided and judged in three different categories:  whole, altered (spayed or neutered) and household pet.  The household pet category is judged on grooming and personality, not breed.  Household pets must be altered.

Admission to the cat show is free, but a requested free will donation of $5 for adults, $2 for students/seniors or $10 for a family, will be taken at the door.   All proceeds of the free will donation will be given to Peanut's Place Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in Pipestone, Minnesota, a no-kill shelter.  There will also be a silent auction for prizes from 9am to 3pm both days.
